Coroner says 18-month-old died after hit by car | News

CLARK COUNTY, IN (WAVE) – An autopsy shows an 18-month-old
found dead at his Otisco home was hit by a car.

The Clark County coroner confirms Aiden G. Maples died from
injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. He was found Wednesday
night at the family's home in the 1100 block of Leon Prall Road.

Originally, the Clark County Sheriff's office believed the
toddler may have fallen on the gravel driveway, but learned otherwise after the
autopsy was complete Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff spokesperson Chuck Adams said they are still calling the death of Maples an accident, but they
are presenting the case to the prosecutor in Clark County Friday to make sure
no charges should be filed.

Adams said Maples was playing at the home with about 10
other kids when his adopted mother's cousin drove up. Adams isn't releasing
exactly how it happened, but apparently she hit Aiden.

Adams said they've been interviewing the cousin who is being
cooperative and is very upset.
