City of Jeffersonville ends partnership early with No Kill Louisville

Louisville, Ky. - The city of Jeffersonville, Indiana, along with J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter has cut short their partnership with No Kill Louisville, effectively ending it on May 19, 2013 instead of the original deadline of August 18. 
 
The partnership was originally created so that No Kill Louisville could assist J.B. Ogle in becoming a no kill shelter, by helping to increase adoptions – both on- and off-site – through public outreach, new program formation, and volunteer recruitment; working to increase the number of foster families available to J.B.

LOUISVILLE, KY – Doctors from BluePearl Veterinary Partners are urging people to stop using and return or discard certain bags of cat food manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods after the company issued a voluntary recall affecting 25 states Sunday.

National pet weight loss contest launched to help growing population of obese pets

Tampa, Fl. – BluePearl Veterinary Partners announced on January 23, 2013 the start of The Biggest Shedder, a nationwide pet weight-loss competition to encourage and motivate pet owners to help their furry companions get to a healthy weight. Open to any pet owner with an overweight cat or dog, the first weigh-in deadline is February 13.

“Pets are part of the family and share problems maintaining a healthy weight, just like people do,” said Dr. Neil Shaw, chief medical officer of BluePearl Veterinary Partners. “Incorporating a healthy diet and exercise into your pet’s life are paramount to helping your pet live a long and healthy life while preventing avoidable ailments.”

According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, an estimated 54% of cats and dogs in the U.S. are considered overweight or obese.

Louisville, Ky. - 2012 marks the 25th year for “Picture Your Pets with Santa," a holiday fundraiser where Jolly Ole Saint Nick will take time out of his busy schedule to help the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) and other area animal groups by posing for professional portraits with pets of all kinds.

"Picture Your Pets With Santa" occurs at all 14 Feeders Supply stores during the first two weekends in December--December 1 and 2 and December 8 and 9. Saturday hours for the event run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays it takes place between noon and 5 p.m.

Same day photo service is available. Photos are offered in various packages, starting at only $10. This year, pet parents may choose to receive photos on a 1G commemorative thumb drive for $17.

KY Humane Society and Louisville Metro Animal Services to host Howl-o-ween adoption special

Louisville, Ky. - The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) and Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) are hosting a “Howl-o-ween” adoption special from October 25 to 28 with the theme “Tricks and Treats for Our Pets.”

Bring a “treat” for shelter pets and pay no adoption fee on cats age four months and older and dogs age one year and older from October 25 to 28. “Treats” include dog and cat toys, soft treats, bedding, blankets, canned food, KMR (kitten milk replacer) and bottles, paper towels and bleach.

Participating adoption sites include LMAS Animal House, KHS Main Campus, KHS East Campus, and seven Feeders Supply adoption sites--Fern Creek, Hikes Point, Preston Highway, Springhurst, St. Matthews, Dixie Highway and Clarksville, Indiana.
